Avec ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Avec app and related services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when you use Avec:

• Account information such as your name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple
• Diary entries, photos, notes, and other content you create within the app
• Trip data including locations, place names, and associated photos
• Profile information such as your display name and profile photo
• Device information including push notification tokens to deliver notifications

We also collect limited technical information automatically:

• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• App usage patterns to improve performance and reliability
• Location data from photo EXIF metadata, only when you add photos to trips

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the Avec service, including syncing your diary across devices
• Share your content with diary members you have explicitly invited
• Send push notifications for new diary entries from your shared diary members
• Generate "On This Day" memories from your past entries
• Improve and debug the app

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your diary content for advertising.

How We Share Your Information

Your diary content is shared only with members of diaries you have created or joined. We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database storage, and file storage. We use Anthropic's API for optional tag suggestion features.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers. Photos are stored in Firebase Storage. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a diary or your account, associated content is removed from our servers. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your diary content

Children's Privacy

Avec is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
